Week 10: @moritz89 (Moritz)

Who are you and what are you doing in Bremen?

Hello World! I’m Mr. Moritz, old enough to be curating a respectable blog/twitter account, and work as a TA for not just one, but two courses. At the time I’m striving to complete my BA in Systems Engineering and if that doesn’t work out, switch to Kitesurfing as a profession.

What’s your Twitter account?

@moritz89

Are you originally from Bremen? If not, what’s your story?

I hail straight from a sunny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean… jup that be Sri Lanka. I came to Bremen to learn the German culture, and boy are they delivering. But the main reason for leaving Sri Lanka was to flea the prosecution of reggae music. There is just way to much of that over there.

What do you like most about Bremen?

Umm? Does being awesome count? The past curators all mentioned sized, but size doesn’t matter, right? Well in most cases. To list a few small points, there’s a 24 hour Döner shops on the other side of the road, they’ve got indie cinemas, and above all, my childhood hero’s be representing here! The hardy animal quartet, the Town Musicians of Bremen.

What’s your favourite place in Bremen?

What do the Werder and the Uni See have in common? If you want to grill by the water, on the beach, that’s the place to go to. Did I mention I like grilling, cause we be the first in Bremen, and maybe even the whole of Germany, to have instituted a “first snowflake” grill event each winter. That’s love to a passion isn’t it?

What’s your top 5 list of things to do in Bremen?

1. Get a burger at that burger place in the Viertel, at the Gift Crossing, opposite the Eisen, when in a non-sober state of mind.
2. Since we’re all low on cash, the pre-game (vorglühen) is at the Galileo, if you don’t mind a bunch of Spanish and people of similar provenance.
3. Fairyland a.k.a. The candy shop. When you steps in, an atmosphere of warmth, sugary flavors, and happiness overpowers ones senses.
4. Check out those Town Musicians of Bremen
5. I got to give you guys a reason to follow my tweets, don’t I?

Who are you and what are you doing in Bremen?

Moin! I’m Uwe and I am 24 years old. I live and work here in Bremen.

I’ve moved here in July of 2008, because I started an apprenticeship in a fruit and vegetable whole-saler… and I worked there ever since.

When having time off, I like to just hang around. It doesn’t really matter if I’m at a friend’s house, a shopping mall or the beautiful Bürgerpark, which is right in front of my house, I just love it in this city!

What’s your Twitter account?

@uwelishes

Are you originally from Bremen? If not, what’s your story?

Oopsie, I already wrote that, but anyways, I moved here, because I found work here. Originally, I’m from a very tiny village and it was just way too boring there, so I thought: Bremen is close to home AND is just the right size… perfect match!

What do you like most about Bremen?

I really like the public transportation here. They really do a great job.

Other than that, I enjoy the nightlife. The Viertel is really interesting at night.

What’s your favourite place in Bremen?

“I really like the Viertel (of course, who doesn’t) and I have a special spot in the Bürgerpark where I often lay in the sun and just relax. That’s the best place in Bremen (or even earth:) )

What’s your top 5 list of things to do in Bremen?

1. Soaking up the sun in the Bürgerpark
2. Having fun with friends in the Viertel
3. Shopping at Weserpark.
4. Jogging through the Bürgerpark.
5. Having a cup of coffee with friends

So, I hope I got this right and that you all have a small picture of what I’m like

Week 6: @hermann4000 (Hermann Assmann)

Who are you and what are you doing in Bremen?

Moin Moin! I’m Hermann, 34 years old, and I work for the small internet agency “eWerk” in Bremen doing what I would call “Online-PR” – you know, writing texts for websites, blogs and such and doing this newfangled “social media”-thing for different customers of the agency.

What’s your Twitter account?

You can follow me at @hermann4000 or at my “business-account” @hermannassmann. I’d recommend the first one though. Furthermore I am volunteer chief editor of the regional event blog www.bremen-fuer-lau.de (in German) where we (Hi S. and @carolinhinz 🙂 ) collect events in Bremen that do not charge entrance fee. Have a look, you’d be suprised how many there are – the Twitter account is @bremenfuerlau.

Are you originally from Bremen? If not, what’s your story?

I was born near the beautiful City of Cologne (yes, the one with that large cathedral), but I moved to Bremen some 14 years ago now. First just for studying, but now I like to think of I as my “new” hometown. And I like it very much!

What do you like most about Bremen?

I think that Bremen is just the right mixture of a big town and a beautiful village. It’s large enough that you never get bored – there are cinemas, clubs, restaurants, museas, theatres and a living subculture, we even do have an airport here! But Bremen is still small enough that you meet acquaintances wherever your go, and it’s a very green city with a high quality of life.

What’s your favourite place in Bremen?

“Das Eck” and “Der Osterdeich”. With “Eck” I mean the crossing between Sielwall and Ostertorsteinweg, the heart of the “Viertel”-District where all cool people and everybody else goes (maps klick). The “Osterdeich”, literally the “eastern dyke”, is a beautiful inner-city dyke to hang out in the summer and it’s also nice to take a walk there in winter (maps klick).

What’s your top 5 list of things to do in Bremen?

1. Cycle through the Bürgerpark.
2. Have a drink at the Wohnzimmer-Bar.
3. Take a walk at the Schlachte.
4. Visit the Kunsthalle.
5. Take a ship do a “Hafenrundfahrt” (harbour tour) – a truly unique way to look at Bremen.
